Wm Greig Cooke passed away peacefully at home from leukemia on August 22, 2023. Predeceased by his parents, Bill & Catherine (MacAskill) Cooke. He is survived by his loving wife Anne, his children Leigh Anne (Daniel Fosbery) and Paul, his brother Arthur and his sister Mary Anne Niddery.

Born in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Greig moved to Toronto at age 3. He grew up in Scarborough where he enjoyed playing with his siblings and cousins. The Cooke family made many trips down east to Halifax and Cape Breton to visit extended family.

Greig excelled academically and was a keen sailor. As a youth he spent time with Toronto Brigantine (Brigs) sailing on the STV Pathfinder and the TS Playfair. He started as a Petty Officer at age 14 on the Pathfinder and worked his way through the ranks to become Captain of the Playfair from 1975 - 1981.

He then attended University of Toronto to study engineering, gradutated as a civil engineer in 1985 and was employed by RPA Consultants & Stantec throughout his 28 year career.

Greig married Anne in 1985 and was a dedicated husband. He focused on improvements and renovations to their Toronto home, they loved to camp at Ontario parks, dance and travel together. As a devoted and involved father to Leigh Anne and Paul he spent many weekends taking them to spend time in nature. He was proud of both of them.

Family was important to Greig and he loved discussing sports with his brother Arthur, particularly the Jays and Leafs. He was an avid geneaology researcher and made many trips to the Maritimes and Scotland to learn more of his family history.

He enjoyed his retirement where he was able to spend more time with family and his many travels with Anne. A highlight of this time was attending Leigh Anne's wedding in August 2022.

Greig was grateful for the love and support of friends and family during his 6 month illness.
